Dver is a spirit-worker on the margins of Hellenic polytheism, with ties to English, Germanic and Slavic folk traditions as well. A priestess of Dionysos, and also devoted to Hermes, Apollon, Persephone, Hekate, and a host of personal and local spirits, her main practices include oracular trance, pathwalking, bone-working, and devotional worship. Dver resides in the lush, green, nymph-haunted Pacific Northwest.

I frakking love this song. The rest of the album it’s on is completely different and more jazzy, though; not my kind of music.
I just discovered it and am obsessed! What she does with her voice is amazing. I did go through some of her other music and yeah, it’s not at all the same, though I did find a few pieces I liked in a very different way. Wish she would do more of this though!
You might check out Mari Boine or Gjallarhorn (not the Italian black metal band, I mean the group from Sweden). There is a lot of music coming out of the Scandinavian arctic that is just wonderful stuff. Pure magic, really.
I know Gjallarhorn, but will look for Mari Boine. My favorite these days is Hedningarna. I really do love the Scandinavian groups that are doing music that is both ancient and modern at the same time.
I’ve posted a few videos from both Mari Boine and Gjallarhorn on my blog, some recently as I remember. Gjallarhorn is actually from the Swedish speaking region of Finland; they mostly sing in Swedish but they have a few nice songs in Finnish, too (Suvetar being my favorite).
